To make a long story short, a 12-year old girl has nowhere to go, and I’ve volunteered to help care for her while her father gets back on his feet. Being 26 myself, with no kids, I have no experience in the area of raising a child, but I have every intention to make sure she gets the proper care, a stable and safe home life, and have fun. I’ll be responsible for her education, and I would love to teach her how to cook, which I hear she’s interested in.
I’m not expecting it to be an easy undertaking, but I do expect to do a good job. I just hope I don’t have to be chasing off any boys. I’m at the age where I can actually catch them when they go running off. :)
Matt, you’ll do a wonderful job. This little girl is lucky to be able to have you around to care for her. Too many children are left to fend for themselves. As the mother to a 12 year old girl, let me know if you need any help or advice. I’ll be happy to share any knowledge I have.
*cough* Congratulations! It’s a girl! :)
She is at a very difficult age. I am having a hard time to understand how a 12 years old will have no way to go, but I am glad to know that at least someone will be there for her.
There are some tips I have compiled on my wiki. Everything certainly applies.
Cindy:
Thanks, I appreciate the offer, and faith. :)

That was really fantastic, and some really good pointers. I’ve bookmarked it.
